What you will be doing

  • Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities related to bridges and structural works
  • Manage subcontractors performing deep foundation work, including piles and caissons
  • Manage subcontractors for concrete and structural work, including formwork, rebar, concrete placement, and structural steel installation
  • Review lifting plans and oversee installation of temporary works, including shoring, falsework, and support systems
  • Lead the onsite morning foreman coordination meetings to ensure alignment and coordination across all trades
  • Lead daily safety briefings and ensure all Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) are completed
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, ensuring performance, productivity, and adherence to scope and schedule
  • Monitor daily progress against the project schedule and proactively identify, flag, and resolve issues
  • Develop, manage, and update three-week lookahead schedules aligned with the overall project schedule and actively manage constraints to maintain workflow and productivity.
  • Ensure daily tracking and reporting of installed quantities, productivity, labour, and equipment, and validate subcontractor-reported quantities.
  • Provide accurate field data (quantities, productivity, and resource usage) to support cost control, forecasting, and progress measurement.
  • Coordinate site access, logistics, and sequencing of work to avoid conflicts and delays
  • Anticipate and mitigate coordination challenges before they impact construction progress
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, designers, and surveyors to resolve field issues
  • Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with JV and parent companies standards
  • Prepare, review, and enforce Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), including subcontractor submissions
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Work Plans and Method Statements
  • Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved plans and methodologies
  • Ensure clear understanding of Quality ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans) and be responsible for implementation onsite
  • Review and understand project drawings, specifications, and construction work packages to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain full-time on-site presence to ensure safe, coordinated execution of all work
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships
  • Identify, document, and communicate field changes, delays, and impacts, maintaining detailed records (daily reports, photos, site conditions) to support change management and claims.

 

What we are looking for

  • 15+ years of proven experience in bridges and heavy civil and infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role on infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience in deep foundations (piles, caissons), footings, abutments, structural concrete works, formwork systems, rebar installation, and concrete placement practices
  • Experience with structural steel erection and strong understanding of temporary works, including shoring systems, falsework, and support systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex site activities
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling and lookahead planning
  • Solid knowledge of safety programs, hazard assessments, and safe work practices
  • Experience working in active rail corridors (CPKC corridor experience is preferred)
  • Experience with Metrolinx Work Plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively address site challenges
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a firm, results-driven approach
  • Ability to work full-time on site in a fast-paced construction environment
